Agri-businesses and Farms
We have an in-depth knowledge of the agricultural industry through personal involvement and an agricultural background of a number of key members of staff.  We have worked with the industry for approaching two decades, helping businesses develop through what have been the most challenging times facing agriculture in recent years.

Rhrough having a deep seated interest and involvement with the agricultural industry, we remain up to date on all aspects of agriculture which enables us to advise businesses and take our service beyond a straight forward production of accounts.  We also offer a benchmarking service comparing physical and financial performance of similar size farms.

In addition to the commercial issues surrounding agriculture, we also have a great deal of experience of tax planning for the agricultural industry. We perceive that it is necessary to have specialist agricultural knowledge in order to advise clients on tax planning issues and trading structures to maximise tax efficiency whilst taking into account the family based structure of many businesses.

Estates
We appreciate that accounting and tax planning issues for estates are different to those for agricultural businesses generally.  Having acted for a number of substantial estates over the years, we have the experience necessary in order to provide cost effective and appropriate advice to estate owners and trustees.  In many situations, agents represent the clients interests and we work well with the agents in order to reduce the cost of compliance as far as possible.  We believe that this enables us to focus our time on the added value services we are able to provide.

Diversified agricultural businesses
In today’s changing agricultural environment, we have many clients who have diversified enterprises such as tourism, property development, holiday complexes, and catering to name but a few.

We aim to help clients develop the necessary skills and knowledge to run these enterprises alongside their existing farming business.  As for all our clients, we can prepare quarterly management accounts to monitor the growth of a diversified business, this enables us to give frequent hands on advice to enable our clients to take their businesses forward.

For new diversification projects we offer help with the pre planning and budgetary stage to include:

  • Advice regarding structuring to deal with VAT and tax planning, and commercial requirements generally
  • Profit and loss budgets and cashflow forecasts
  • Help with application for finance
  • Grants available
